Calendar

Updated: Jun 6, 2020

My family members have always supported me in everything that I do, especially photography. I can't thank my cousins enough for modelling for me day after day while I was in school, or if I had a random idea that I wanted to complete. At the end of 2018 my cousin and I were laughing about a few of the body builder photos that he and I had done together, and just like that we both had the idea to make a calendar. but not just any type of "firefighter" calendar; this was going to be a gag calendar that we were going to surprise his friends with at the end of 2019.

We made a plan for photoshoot ideas for each month, and once the new year started, we began our shooting. It took a lot of planning and a lot of props and A LOT of different posing ideas to get the right photo for each month, but I am please to say that all of our hard work and determination payed off, and we completed our gag calendar. Although this project was just for laughs, I am extremely happy with the way that the photos turned out. We both worked very hard to make this come into being.

When I was in school I remember an assignment that we were given called Venus and Mars. In this assignment we had to photograph a male in a more feminine way, and a female in a more masculine way; I feel as though I really channeled that energy in this photoshoot. We tried to shoot certain aspects of the calendar in this stereotypical masculine/feminine way, as we thought it would be funnier.

We had a lot of laughs with the making of this calendar, and I hope this year is filled with lots of laughter as well.

I'll be adding all of the holiday calendar photos to my instagram, so keep an eye on that to see the rest of the photos.

Thank you to every person who helped make this possible. To Raff for the ideas and the modelling, Kim for letting me use her studio space, my aunt for letting me use her house and feeding me, Jessica for helping with the March shoot, and Terry and Georgian College for letting me use the studio. I literally couldn't have done this without any of you.
